NEW AcoustiCalendar Song #17 THE LAST GENERATiON / Newcastle 02 Academy Gig 02/05/15

Here we are at the beginning of another working week and in my world that can only mean another AcoustiCalendar track of the 52 I'm writing and recording in 2015! This time its Song #17 and its called THE LAST GENERATiON. This song was
inspired by a post on a social networking site, it was basically saying...."Anyone who was born in the 50's, 60's, 70's or 80's we were the last generation to play in the streets, the first to play video games, tape songs off the radio, and lived care free in a world without flat screen TVs, mobile phones, the internet and social media etc etc"... So I thought, yeah too right, and since I fall into that category, its something I can identify with and therefore became the new subject matter of my 17th AcoustiCalendar song. As ever this song will be available to Download FREE at www.logozworld.com/52 for one week until the next track is uploaded. We have now compiled the first CD of the quarter, so AcoustiCalendar 13.1 is available to pre-order from today for £5.00 + P&P and will be available at gigs from May. http://logozworld.com/merch

Back in LoGOz world and just to remind you we are playing at the Newcastle 02 Academy this Saturday May 2nd. Tickets are £6 a pop and selling like a flaming bakers! So if anyone still hasn't got one, then give us a shout, you wouldn't want to miss this! Doors open at 6:30pm and first band are The Filth Hounds. LoGOz will be hitting the stage at 7:20pm followed by Go Go Midgets then finally Ball of Mayhem. Its gonna be a cracking night we cant wait! Hope to see you all there!  https://www.facebook.com/events/816645495096491/

Debut Acoustic Solo Gig - The Roxbury - Blyth - 23/04/15

Well here we are the day had finally arrived my first ever solo gig, in the familiar settings of The Roxbury in Blyth. With the LoGOz mobile carrying a little less gear than usual I was armed with only a guitar and a music stand, and shaking like a shitting dog! Nervous energy is good though, and stepping out of my comfort zone is something I've been wanting to do for years, and the timing is just perfect right now so lets do this! We hit the venue just before 8pm with a smooth soundcheck nailed with the audio assistance of Mr Vince Race I was ready to go!

The place was filling up generously with plenty of familiar faces, this was a good feeling! I hit the stage at 9pm and kicked off with THE BALLAD OF THE DiSENCHANTED and I was away! The warmth and great reception from the crowd eased my nerves and made it one of the most enjoyable gig experiences I've ever had! I played a 9 song set including tracks from my AcoustiCalendar project including RiOT ON THE RADiO, PiG, PAiNT THE TOWN RED, THE DEATH OF THE 7 iNCH SiNGLE as well as a few LoGOz tracks JUBILEEZER, HELLO LONELY & MEXiCOLA. The freedom of playing solo gives the songs more versatility and I can really play around with them without the restrictions of a band. I closed the set with OLD PUNKS NEVER DiE and even tagged ONLY FOOLS & HORSES/HOOKY STREET on the end which went down a storm! An amazing experience and one I cant wait to repeat, so watch this space :)

Next up were young female fronted rock/metal alternative quintet WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS. This only being their third gig the band admirably blasted through mainly covers of their favourite noisemeisters of the moment, including ASKING ALEXANDRIA. Then it was the turn of Mathematical Rockers FRET! With their hypnotic instrumentation and some powerhouse drumming by Nevermind The Buzzcocks Simon Amstell lookalike on drums, they created a unique sound all of their own!

All in all a fantastic night for my debut solo gig, it couldnt have gone any better really! Big thanks to everyone who came down to support this, its hugely appreciated! Also cheers to Vince for arranging the gig and for a great sound.

Radio Northumberland Live Solo Performance & interview / AcoustiCalendar Song #16 BROKEN HEART STRiNGS

Monday 20th April: Here we are at the beginning of another working week and things are just getting a whole lot busier in LoGOz world and for me personally! As we shook our weekend hangovers off Monday afternoon was spent recording and mixing my NEW AcoustiCalendar Song #16 BROKEN HEART STRiNGS. More on the details of this track in a mo, but I will say the broadband gremlins had a part to play in challenging my patience in getting the bastard uploaded ready for the FREE Download later that night! But hey, this is LoGOz and nothing is ever straight forward! We wouldn't have it any other way :)

With an alternative solution via the gift of CD and Master of WAV files, between Clemmy, Jill Bee and myself we managed to get it sorted :) Despite this little altercation I can assure you that no technological gadgets where harmed in the process :)

Shit, I've still got a radio interview and Live acoustic performance to do! Bombing up the spine road in the early evening sun we rolled up to Radio Northumberland HQ around 7:45pm with 15 minutes to spare before appearing on the New Wave with Newman Show at 8pm. We were greeted warmly as ever by Mr Keith himself and his trustee sidekick and local gigateer Punky Paul.

We pretty much got straight down to business as Keith played LoGOz comic relief cover of Only Fools & Horses/Hooky Street, and last weeks Solo Song #15 THE STREETS OF SWEET HOPE before chewing the fat about my AcoustiCalendar Project. Then it was time to get my groove on and play Live in what was only my second solo Radio performance. I kicked off with the aptly titled RiOT ON THE RADiO which went down great. After spinning some classic tunes including Adam & the Ants, The Ramones & Blondie, Keith then quizzed me about all things LoGOz including the recent addition of Harry on drums and my extended upcoming gig guide :) Time to strap back on the Acoustic for my second and final song of the evening, this coming in the shape of OLD PUNKS NEVER DiE, again a fitting track for the occasion and the show itself! I also managed to sneak in Only Fools on the outtro which went down well in the studio. Cushty. It was all over rather too quickly, but a job well done and another enjoyable solo experience for me personally. Big thanks to Keith as ever, to Punky Paul, and not forgetting better late than never Tommo who came into the studio for the finale. We even had time to wish and sing Clemmy a Happy Birthday for Wednesday just for good measure :) Champion!

So onto Mondays NEW AcoustiCalendar Song #16 BROKEN HEART STRiNGS. Bit of a deep one this, and a subject I've kind of always avoided writing about. But it came out of nowhere last week and was stuck in my head so it seemed like the right time to let it out. We've all lost someone close to us in our lives. Whether it be, family, friends, or loved ones. Although they are no longer with us, we never forget. So this is my tribute to my best friend who was taken way too young. Hope you like it. As ever this song will be available for FREE download from www.logozworld.com/52 for 7 days until the next track is uploaded.

Also dont forget I'll be playing my first solo gig at The Roxbury in Blyth this Thursday April 23rd at 9pm. Check the event page on Facebook here:

LoGOz - Gateshead review with The Blood / AcoustiCalendar Song #15

Well here we are back again at the good old Doll at the Black Bull in Gateshead supporting UK punk veterans (with a new line up) The Blood. We managed to grab a quick greedy one hour band rehearsal at Pulse Music Studios. We just wanted to polish up as this was still only Harry's second gig back in LoGOz, as he's literally just jumped into a rather deep end of the swimming pool that is punk rock n roll!!! With the clocks springing forward a few weeks ago our drive through Newcastle was almost unrecognizable in the bright early evening sun! We hit the venue in good time to catch The Blood finishing their soundcheck. Lead Singer The Cardinal had yet to don his Mitre Hat and Robe, so this was a sneaky preview indeed. A band whose ex members include Dave Shit, Elvis Christ and Cardinal Jesus Hate, this was always gonna be an interesting night. Also The Blood's new Bass player is a certain Sean Valentine, a good friend of the band and one time potential LoGOz member back in the day :)

After a slight communication breakdown and misunderstanding regarding guest list and paying punters, we were told we were second band on at 9:15pm. Champion. Only to be then told 10 minutes later we were back to being first band on. We were cool with that, as that was the original line up to begin with anyway :) So after a swift visit to the bar we got ready for soundcheck. We nailed a one take 'No Win Situation' and were ready for show time! The venue was filling up healthily as we hit the stage around 8:20pm. The place was jumping, and with camera phones flashing in our sweaty faces we tore through a 10 strong song set! The sound was loud and raw in there tonight but we blasted a great 30 minuter as Harry played out of his specs, and got a top second gig under his Cowboy Hat.

Next up was Midland Punk 4 piece Criminal X who played a frantic 40 minute set never letting up the pace, with the crowd right on their side! Then it was the turn of The Cardinal and his Punk Disciples, The Blood. Now dressed in full Red Mitre Hat and matching gown, and clutching a bottle of Magners, as opposed to a blood of Christ filled Chalice, it was time for some Bishop bashing!!! The Blood delivered what their fans asked for, and they got it! The band were tight and solid with Valentine shining in particular. Personally l thought that that was the busiest and biggest crowd l've seen at The Doll in all the times of playing there, so yet again it goes down as a success in LoGOz book. More new friends, fans and contacts were made, and that's what its all about at the end of the day for us :) Cheers to everyone who came down and made a noise with us! Also thanks to Shev for arranging this gig. Big up of course to Criminal X and God Bless The Blood for making it an interestingly unreligiously cracking night. Amen.

So onto Monday again and we're up to Song #15 of my AcoustiCalendar Project. This weeks track is THE STREETS OF SWEET HOPE. I have to be honest and this kiddie was only literally finished being written today, so thats as new as it gets folks haha! So with not much rehearsal time its pretty much a one taker again with an extra layer of vocals on to give it a bit more body. The song itself is a kind of under hand homage to a place very close to me in more ways than one. The lyrics pretty much tell its own story of working class everyday ordinariness. Yet despite the boredom and despair some people feel, there always hope....sweet hope indeed :) As always this song will be available at www.logozworld.com/52  for 7 days until the next track is uploaded. We have also now compiled the first 13 Tracks for a hard copy CD. This will become AcoustiCalendar 13.1. As throughout the course of the year we will be releasing a total of 4, 13 track CDs, completing the 52 Song project in December, phew!!!

These CDs will be available at my Solo gigs which are currently being organised as we speak. On that note l'm happy to announce my very first Solo Acoustic gig will be at The Roxbury in Blyth on Thursday April 23rd. So put it on your diary, book a babysitter, get your best drinking trousers and smoking jackets on and come down and join in some laid back melodic punk Anarcoustic tuneage, including a few LoGOz tracks, as you've never heard them before. I also have a brand new Facebook page to accompany this project. Although not a huge FB fan or user, you have no worries of finding out mundanities like what I've had for my tea or my opinion on the latest reality farces! This is strictly for the music so please check out and 'Like' me on www.facebook.com/acousticalendar Thanks in advance :)
Thats it for now folks :)

LoGOz - Blyth & Darlington Live Reviews / AcoustiCalendar Song #14 LOOKiNG TO LONDON

After a personal mini music break and much needed relaxation and human battery recharge LoGOz returned to the Live scene on Good Friday April 3rd, with a gig at The Tavern in Blyth! But this was no ordinary gig people, oh no!

This was a secret surprise 50th Birthday bash for COLLiSiON frontman Mr. Tony Houghton. Arranged by future Mrs H to be, Karen Khaos who had admirably kept the whole thing a secret from Tony, with a little help from the Collision gang too of course! Tony's face was a picture as he walked into the Tavern to a rapturous reception from close friends and family! For once he looked lost for words, only to turn to LoGOz as we were ready to soundcheck and warmly sneered "Yee Bastards" haha!

Tonight also saw the return of Carlos to the LoGOz drum stool. It had already been arranged that Harry's first gig would be at The Railway in Darlington the following night, so we wanted to stick to that plan as tonight's Birthday bash could be an unpredictable longer set. Carlos has been there before so it made sense to do what was best for the band :) We warmed up with a half hour acoustic set just Paul and myself as we eased ourselves back into Live action just whetting the appetite for a proper full band punk blast!! So by 10pm the drinks were flowing, the crack was great, Tony was having a ball and it was time for us to rock! We kicked off with LONG TiME DEAD and there was no letting up from then on in! Folk drank, sang and danced the LoGOz pogo and as we had almost reached the end of the set I beckoned the man of the moment onto the stage for a fantastically messy PRETTY VACANT!!! As Tony thanked his friends and family (including his Da' who had driven up from Liverpool) and us bastards, we finished off with a rousing MEXiCOLA. Not before Clemmy had to remove a drunken pork pie hatted reveller from the stage who had taken Paul's mic and done his best Napalm Death impression! A great end to a great night and big thanks to Karen for asking us to play, Gin Slinging Mickey O for doing the sound. Also cheers to everyone at The Tavern, and last but not least, all who came down and made it a night to remember for Tony (who also kindly gave me his tartan tie, that l had been admiring all evening). Tomorrow night couldn't get any better... could it???

So, on to Saturday and our first gig in Darlington at The Railway supporting KiCKBACK GENERATiON. As we entered Darlo we were having slight communication breakdown problems with our satellite navigational system! After a few somewhat misleading directions from locals we finally reached our destination, only an hour later than originally planned! Entering the venue we were greeted by the Kickback guys mainman Jim right on time for soundcheck. Things were sounding great as the place was starting to fill up nicely, and before we knew it, it was showtime! This was Harry's second debut with the band after he played our first gigs way back in 2012, and this was his first public performance since the October of that year! You'd never have thought it as we tore into LONG TiME DEAD then straight into JUBiLEEZER, almost as if he'd never been away! The balance of playing with 2 different drummers in successive nights was a great test for the band but we more than pulled it off as the appreciative crowd lapped it up! The place was jumping by the time we left them with our standard set closer MEXiCOLA. We really warmed to this new venue, the crowd were great, and we're already in talks for a return headline gig there in the not too distant future :)
Many new friends were made tonight, so a Big thanks to everyone who came down and made a noise with us yet again! Also big up to KiCKBACK GENERATiON for a great set, especially Jim for getting us the gig and to Anki, The Railway owner and new LoGOz enthusiast. All in all a great weekend for the band and a cracking reintroduction for Harry, well played that man! The night was not over yet as on the way home Clemmy and Mizzi Bee were involved in a brush with the law due to DVLA complications! Papers, documents and cautions were all resolved in time thankfully for the innocent Blyth 2! So not even the bully boys in blue could dampen our spirits in what was an amazing Easter weekend! I just wish I'd seen the Coppers faces when they saw Clemmy's cowboy t-shirt :)

Bank Holiday Monday now it is and that means its AcoustiCalendar track time again! So here we are with Song #14 LOOKiNG TO LONDON. An ode to the big smoke, the capital City, home of our dear Queen, birthplace of the Sex Pistols, and allegedly the centre of the music industry...or is it? No matter how hard you try there's no denying it, we've all been there, people still head there to seek fame and fortune, some win, some lose, some beg, some choose, but at the end of the day, at one point in our life we've all been...Looking to London :) As ever you can download this track for FREE at www.logozworld.com/52  The song will be up on the site for the next 7 days until the next new track is uploaded :)

Happy Bank Holiday

Saturday Night Fever & AcoustiCalendar Song #13 - THiS TOWN iS BURNiNG DOWN

With a LoGOz gig free weekend we had plenty of options to fill our Saturday night in. The Think Tank? in Newcastle was our first port of call as Clemmy, Mizzi Bee and myself bombed up the Spiner in the LoGOz mobile!!! We went to give our good friends the SPITFIRE BULLETS some support at their gig supporting all girl Ramones tribute band The Ramonas. As we made our way upstairs to the venue we could hear the Bullets blasting their way through their first song. Playing with a last minute stand in drummer they sounded better than ever! After an entertaining half hour of classic Ramones, Stiff Little Fingers, Sex Pistols covers, as well as a few originals they finished with a punked up 'House Of The Rising Sun' by the Animals!! Well done lads! After a brief crack with main man Rob and co we said our farewells and headed to our next destination. This was before a little multi storey car park confusion, who says you can’t lose a car :)
We headed across Town to The Black Bull in Gateshead where owner, Promoter, soundman, occasional chest wigger and all round top bloke 'Shev' was celebrating his 50th Birthday!!! It was a jovial boisterous atmosphere with skinheads and mohicans aplenty. So after a few refreshments we jumped back in our trustee steed and made our way to our third event of the evening :)This was at The Roxbury in Blyth as our good friends and local Punk heroes COLLiSiON were playing! Frontman Tony was on top form with great banter and sneering trademark delivery.

Karen Khaos was also in fine voice as they battled vocal duties between classic punk covers as well a few blistering originals. The band were as tight as ever as drummer and one time Gin Slinger Mickey O was also celebrating his half century :) Things were starting to get a bit hazy as the golden throat charmers were going down a treat, and before l knew it Tony had got me onstage to sing backing vocals for 'I Fought The Law' by The Clash. As their second set drew to a close the stage invasion was imminent as we all got up, including Clemmy, for a rousing 'If The Kids Are United' by Sham 69. A great end to a top night. It was great just kicking back and enjoying watching great local bands, something l don't do enough of to be honest :)

So on to Monday and Song #13 for my AcoustiCalendar project. This week’s track is THiS TOWN iS BURNiNG DOWN. A laid back poignant look at the disappointment we can all feel in life around us. But also how we can change things if we really want it enough! So, see, theres always hope in my misery haha :) As usual this song will be available for FREE Download here until the next song is released the following Monday :)

AcoustiCalendar Song #12 RiOT ON THE RADiO

I don’t like Mondays sang a certain Bob Geldof! But in LoGOz world we love Mondays cos it means its yet another brand new spanking AcoustiCalendar Song #12, this time in the form of RiOT ON THE RADiO.

This lil tune harks back to the glorious memories of hearing some of your favourite tunes blasting out of the 'wireless' and into your bedroom, kitchen, or living room, depending where you chose to enjoy your audio pleasure! I have fond memories of tuning into The Friday Rock Show on Radio 1 where the late Tommy Vance would deliver the latest and greatest guitar based melodica to an eager Nation of hard rockin aficionados! Also on Saturday night locally on Metro Radio, there was the Flashing blade himself Mr. Alan Robson with his Hot & Heavy Express. Later as my musical tastes broadened l came to discover The John Peel Show and The Evening Session with Steve Lamacq bringing all sorts of weird and wonderful new bands to my young ears! So sit back and enjoy the 3 minute trip back in time to when there really was a riot on the radio :) As ever you can download this song for FREE from www.logozworld.com/52 where it will available for 7 days until the next track is uploaded :)
