First of all a belated Happy New Year to one and all. I hope you all had a cracking festive season and are ready to take 2016 by the horns and ride it like a bastard! I know I am!!!
I was sad (as millions were) to hear of the death of Motörhead main man Lemmy over the Xmas period. As a huge fan I was hoping to catch the band one last time on their scheduled January UK Tour, but it wasn't to be. I was lucky to see the band 4 times over the years, at the Newcastle Mayfair 1998, City Hall 2003, 02 Academy 2007 and Download 2010. Every time, the band delivered a high energy no nonsense bad ass dirty rock n roll set of class tunes! Lemmy was/is a true Rock star warrior who lived life loud the way he wanted and took shit from no one. He will be sorely missed.
Also just heard the sad news today that David Bowie has passed away losing his 18 month battle with cancer. Another icon and innovator of music and style spanning 6 decades! Surely almost everyone involved in music can't help being influenced by David Bowie? Again like Lemmy he was creative right til the end, only releasing his new album last week! Rest in Peace. They will never be forgotten.
Although it often seems a quiet time at the start of a new
year, LoGOz wasted no time in getting back to live action with a gig at The Tavern in Blyth on Sunday January 3rd. We were supported by young fresh faced indie rock starts Primal Colours. Their half hour set with mainly originals and highlighted with a decent cover of Talking Heads classic 'Psycho Killer'. Good luck to the lads for the future. It was great to ease back into the Live scene after we hadn't played together since early December at Riverside Rebellion Festival. But any fears were quickly brushed aside as we delivered a post Christmas cracker of a set, with not a turkey in sight! The band were as tight as our festive waistbands and blessed with a brilliantly loyal bustling crowd still in New Year Party mode! A great start to 2016. Thanks to all who came down and to Vince for putting us on again.
Behind the scenes is where it's all happening at the minute. As Clemmy, Mizzi Bee and myself are in the final stages of putting together the finishing touches to the repackaged PSYCHO RADIO album. Trust me it'll be well worth the wait! We're also working on remixing early demos for some extra unheard unreleased ultra rarities to come your way too! So watch this space!!! Im also pleased to say that the second AcoustiCalendar CD 13.2 is ready to be released at the start of February. More news on this as it happens :)
I have begun working on drum tracks for the 52 songs too. This is a really cool process which will help decide what songs could work as a full new band project. Maybe they all will haha! I'm also planning picking the best, favourite or most relevant 13 songs from AcoustiCalendar 52 and giving them the full band treatment for commercial release later this year! So if there's any of those songs which you would like to hear given a full electric makeover then please do let me know? Speaking of which you may remember towards the end of last year I recorded full band versions of 'Keep ya Timber in & ya Powder Dry' and 'Death of the 7 inch Single' up at Mill Studios in Alnwick? Well we will be restarting work on the video for 'Timber' this month and the plan is to release this as a solo double A-Side Single in the first half of 2016.
And if that's not enough, I've already stated writing new LoGOz songs and recording new band demos! Clemmy is also already working hard filling up the diary so expect new gig announcements very soon too!
I think that's all for now folks!
Stay clean and live the dream!
Live it up in 2016
Cheerz
Peesh X
