LoGOz - The Ups & Downs & all in between - The Rollercoaster year that was 2014 !!!

Our New Year hangovers had barely lifted as we got 2014 underway with one of our biggest gigs of our brief career so far, on Friday January 17th at The Cluny2 in Newcastle supporting DUNCAN REID AND THE BIG HEADS. This show was a sell out and a big thanks to Keith Newman and Radio Northumberland for arranging this brilliant night. A great start to the year was quickly followed with some local gigs at Bubbles Ashington and Bar 38 Newcastle, and then our first Live gig in Sheffield at The South Sea Venue in February. Spreading our black punk rock wings and getting some mileage on the clock was standing us in good stead, as well as getting us as tight as a camels arse in a sandstorm!
March then saw us playing at Think Tank? in Newcastle supporting SUPERCHARGER and EUREKA MACHINES. The Machines were on a successful UK Tour as main man Chris Catalyst showcased his band/talents whilst taking a break from Guitar playing duties with Ginger Wildheart. Another cracking night and big thanks to John Davies from Supercharger for this :) This month was also our first gig in Leeds, rocking out the Packhorse venue with our good friends STILETTO FARM & STONE COLD KILL. Closing a busy March we played 2 gigs in one day on the 22nd, starting with our hometown Punk all day Festival at Woodhorn Lane in Ashington, followed by an evening show with SPITFIRE BULLETS, at The Dog & Parrot in Newcastle.
April got off to a flying start with some cracking Radio promotion slots. We were interviewed and performed Live on air on Radio Northumberland, Koast Radio and Lionheart FM. As well as keeping LoGOz gig bandwagon rolling in and around the North East we ended the month with our first ever gig in Edinburgh playing the popular Bannermans venue with DUNT.
With the climate changing and Spring in the air we headed up to the world famous Barrels Ale House in Berwick for the first time in May. This also gave us some great local press and a brilliant debut gig! Back to the other side of the border to rock The Quay in Blyth before showing our charitable side with a fundraising gig at The Sea Horse in Whitley Bay on the 24th. The next day saw Paul and me at Bents Park in South Shields for our first ever Acoustic gig, thanks to Tony Guerilla Promotions. This kinda turned a corner and opened up a new angle for LoGOz. We had a blast and got the initially bemused crowd right on our side. A great afternoon ending in autograph signing, photos and great banter and free food! We finished the month with a great gig on Saturday 31st at Newcastle University Students Union with alternative rockers DIGITS.
With World Cup Fever gripping the Country we kicked off June with a great gig at The Doll @ The Black Bull in Gateshead. Following on from our successful Bents Park unplugged set we played 2 acoustic sets on the weekend of 14/15th, first on  Saturday we played at The Mighty Dub Fest at Druridge Bay Country Park in Hadston, then on Sunday at Whitley Bay food festival. The latter proving the location for the No Win Situation acoustic video bootleg doing the rounds on Youtube, featuring a rather refreshed lady all singing and a dancing with us, check it out :) The following week we crashed into South Shields at the Cross Arms Hotel as England crashed out of the World Cup! Despite the inevitable Football disappointment we were still on a sonic high and ended the night with a chance meeting and great band crack with 3 Colours Red/Gary Numan guitarist Chris McCormack. A few days later we were rocking the Hoppings at Town Moor in Newcastle before playing a second gig later that night on a fundraiser at The Northumberland Arms. We climaxed our busy June with a hometown gig in Ashington on Sunday the 28th on Station Road Fayre Day.
July got underway with another acoustic slot, this time at The Roxbury in Blyth on the 5th then the next night we were back on home turf at Bubbles Ashington supporting Irish Punk veterans HOOLIGAN promoted by Radio Northumberland’s Mr. Newman and again a cracking night indeed! We continued the month in amongst summer holidays and hot humid nights to keep rolling with an electric gig at The Roxbury and a return to the Black Bull, this time supporting British Punk stalwarts ABRASIVE WHEELS.
We kicked off August with the new Premier League Football season with a double set gig at The Flying Horse in Blyth. This was kinda new territory stamping on the toes of traditional cover bands, as we delivered 2 original sets and plenty of encores, and the place was bouncing! We continued this new tradition throughout the month by returning to the Barrels in Berwick and a brilliant night at The Bebside Inn in Blyth for more double set blasts!
September began with an exclusive private party gig at The Conchie in Ashington on the 7th. We then strutted our stuff for the first time at The Lord Clyde in Byker before finishing the month back at the Doll supporting THE ROUGHNECK RIOT on their successful UK Tour promoting their brand new Album.
As my favourite time of the year, the Autumn, was kicking in things were just starting to get a bit more interesting! Due to unforeseen circumstances on the 3rd at The Clef & Cask gig in Cramlington with ALL OUT ATTACK, we had to perform as a 2 piece, with Paul unfortunately out of action. So with no rehearsal or time to adjust, Carl and l bit the bullet and performed as a duo with my Jack White to his bearded Meg :) Against the odds we pulled it off with a blistering set - even if we do say so ourselves!
Paul returned to action the following week as we supported THE DOLLYROTS from U.S.A on their headline date at The Three Tuns Gateshead, on a break from their UK Tour with THE BUZZCOCKS. Another amazing night and thanks to Phil Insangel. A few days later we were again hit with Paul having to sit our next gig out on the sidelines, this being a charity fundraiser at The Elephant in Ashington with GUARDIAN ahead of their European Tour. Carlos and me had now found our stride as a 2 piece and rechristened ourselves LoGO2 and we rose to the challenge yet again with aplomb :) As October drew to a close we headed to  The Riverside in Selby on the 25th, third on the Bill on an all day Punk Festival headlined by SHAM 69. This was again a fantastic night and performance by the band. This lead to us being approached by Sham 69 Tour Manager to asking us to open up the following weekend for COCKNEY REJECTS on their opening night of their 35th Anniversary Tour in Gateshead! Yes please :) So the Halloween weekend proved to be a scary monster busy one with us playing 4 gigs in 24 hours! We kicked off 7:30pm on Saturday November 1st at The Teams Club Gateshead supporting The Rejects then blasted over to The Roxbury in Blyth to play with local Punk heroes COLLISION. Then on Sunday at 3pm we opened up a charity gig at North Shields Rugby Club before heading over to The Golden Lion in Jarrow for a randomly brilliant bizarre unplugged session!! A great weekend, and it didn’t end there, as on the Monday night Clemmy (LoGOz Manager) and me were interviewed Live on Radio Northumberland on the New Wave with Newman Show! Phew :) November 15th we hit The Music Shack in South Shields for the first time and a great gig with local sleazemiesters WILDTHORN amongst others! The following week we smashed it up at the Masons Arms in Blyth with another double setter, which was interspersed with a mini acoustic set by Paul and me, which went down a storm. We rounded the month of with a brilliant night back at The Doll supporting THE FUZZBRATS from Holland in their mini Tour of England promoting their spankin' new Album!
With the advent calendars 6 doors open we returned to our old haunt The Conchie in Ashington for a fun festive bash with METAL GODS. The following Friday we shot back up to Alnwick on Chaz Ellis' Schools Out Show on Lionheart FM for our first full band plugged in Live Radio Session. We were really tearing up the rule book on this one, with the fantastically strangest set up we've ever played! But yet again it all came together and we had a blast, and finished the Show with our punked up version of Happy Xmas (War is Over). With our bellies full and heads pounding, and the smell of new aftershave, perfume and turkey farts in the air we headed back to The Roxbury in Blyth for our Boxing Day Bonanza! This was indeed a Christmas cracking gig with a great animated and very vocal crowd! We even invited Tony from Collision to sing guest vocals on our cover of Pretty Vacant! Another brilliant double set gig for LoGOz as we tore the place another arsehole with more new friends and fans made and a great end to 2014. There was still time on Sunday 28th to lend a helping band at Pegswood Club as we ripped it up one more time!
To top it off 'Mexicola' was voted at Number 3 in Radio Northumberland’s Top 79 Punk Festive countdown, as voted for by the listeners. Thanks for putting us up in the realms of The Sex Pistols and Ramones :)
So all in all it’s been a fantastically interesting year and we have gone from strength to strength, albeit in small steps, cos building this machine takes time :) We have gained many new followers along the road of 2014, yet also seem to have lost one or two along the way too! Your loss people. This is a great journey to be on and it’s only gonna get better and busier. Massive thanks to everyone who has supported and helped us this year, including all the bands, promoters, Radio Stations etc we appreciate it hugely! Special mention to our Manager Clemmy Scotswood and Mizzii Bee for the tireless behind the scenes work. Hope you have all had a great Christmas! Please keep on this Punk Rockin' Rollercoaster.... and dont catch Ebola...Please enjoy...Mexicola :)
Happy New Year
All the Best for 2015
