Saturday December 5th saw LoGOz back at the Westgarth Club in Middlesbrough for our slot at Riverside Rebellion festival. With some seriously dangerous high winds this made the drive over a little hairy to say the least! But we pulled up safely at the venue in good time windswept and excited! As we made our way upstairs to the main event room the next band were just about to kick off. This turned out to be KEYSIDE STRIKES with their angry menacing heavily political left wing hardcore, these guys are not to be messed with! After their set we headed back downstairs for some fresh air only to be greeted by the most rancid stench known to man emanating from the Gents! Christ this was enough to make your eyes water and your stomach churn! So the solitary drinker potential stinker who sat alone in the bar must have been regretting last nights Ruby Murray! Anyway enough of that I'm just talking shit!
Back to the music and it was WELD who were up next. Still in the embryonic stage of gigging, the lads delivered a solid 35 minutes of post punk grunge riffola.
After making a nice dent in the backstage food and drink spread, before we knew it we were up onstage for a quick sound line check. Within minutes the whispering Bob Harris voiced sound guy was giving us the thumbs up to go for it! Kicking straight into LONG TIME DEAD we sounded viscously tight! The crowd seemed to be expanding by every song and other band members on the bill were popping up at the back like meerkats to see what all this racket was about! We were hitting full stride having a blast as phone cameras flashed as strangers cheered and clapped and we lapped it up! Just over half an hour later it was time for our last song, as I announced this would be LoGOz last gig..........of 2015... Before I finished that sentence a few gasps went up in the crowd, as well as from a concerned Paul haha! As we bowed out with a frantic MEXICOLA we celebrated another successful afternoon at the office! Afterwards we mingled with the crowd and chatted, snapped photos, sold merch as the bands played on, almost oblivious to us by then as the Christmas spirit was well and truly flowing! Huge thanks to Mr Steve Harland at Big Figure Promotions for organising this great event and for putting us on. As we drove out of Middlesbrough not even annoying delays, roadworks and a bit of a magical mystery detour could take the shine off another cracking gig for the band!
This week now sees my AcoustiCalendar project now hit Song #49 with THE WAY WE USED TO BE. This was written last week and was inspired by the song WHEN WE WERE YOUNG by the band WHIPPING BOY. This was a track requested on my Psycho Radio Show by tireless LoGOz co-ordinator Jill Bee, so thank you for that :) The lyrics are reflective and nostalgic for the safety of those halcyon days of the past we cannot change. I think there's often a comfort in looking back to your past cos its history and can't be altered. It's safe. It's the future that's uncertain. Anyway as ever you can download this track for FREE from www.logozworld.com/52 and will be available until next Monday when I reach the half century of 50 songs for the year and will have only 2 more to go!!! What a year!
Thanks for reading.
