A pleasant sunny early evening drive up to Berwick had us all in good spirits as we headed to the borders for our debut gig at The world famous Barrels Ale House. After a few last minute scares regarding equipment we were now safe in the knowledge it was all sorted, phew! Kicking about outside the venue as we got there were a few enthusiastic rather refreshed locals having bought tickets for the gig. I love this place already!
The owners were a cool bunch too who were warm, friendly and generous with their hospitality! Cheers Jaki! The cellar Live room had a character all of its own, and had a general feelgood vibe, even when empty as we prepared for soundcheck
Once our sound was nailed we headed back upstairs to mingle with the locals who seemed genuinely pleased to have us at The Barrels. It was also great to see lots of our posters and flyers around the place. So promotion was spot on, we cant fail, can we?
Tonight was a rare two set gig. So with two 40 minute slots to fill I had a brainwave of playing the full PSYCHO RADIO album in its entirety for the first set and then a second set of newer non album tracks also featuring our New Single HELLO LONELY.
So just after 9.15pm we kicked off our first set with ALIENATION. The low ceiling and intimacy of the room worked to our advantage as the small but appreciative crowd lapped up our schizo punk pop rock like they knew every song already! After finishing the first set we sold merchandise and CDs to our new friends and fans and we were only halfway through!
After a short break we hit the stage for our second set just after 10pm starting with LONG TIME DEAD. The crowd was growing and more receptive as the gig went on we even threw in DEAD OR LIVING IN AMERICA for a second time as a request and dedicated to our new American fans. We finished the night with a rousing MEXICOLA which went down a storm and leaving The Barrels crowd wanting more. Job done. Personally one of my favourite gigs I've ever played.
This is one venue we cant wait to play again. We're thinking maybe around August time for a re-book. Looking forward to it already.
As we headed out of Berwick approaching midnight we were sweatier and happier than we were when we first arrived only a few hours earlier. A brilliant night had by all. This is how it should always be. Its up to us to make sure that it is! Special thanks to LoGOz crew Clemmy Scotswood, Jill Bee and Phil Rose for their invaluable contribution to a successful night for LoGOz.
Cheerz for now.
